RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. All exhibitors must be enrolled in a 4 H horse project. They must be active members of the 4 H Horse Club in their county or conducting the project under the direction of an adult volunteer approved by their Extension Agent. The membership of each club is responsible for determining what “active membership” is.

  2. Entry fee is $15.00 per head for exhibitors. Each exhibitor is limited to two animals.

  3. Exhibitor’s must have possession, ownership, and/or have cared for the project animal they are exhibiting by May 1, 2011, with declaration of project animal. (This ownership date is 90 days prior to the State 4-H Horse Show, which complies with their regulations.).

  4. The exhibitor is to submit, the day of the show, a current Coggins Test dated within one year of the show.

  5. Any discourtesy to judges or show officials will result in immediate disqualification of rider and horse in question.

  6. We reserve the right to combine and/or divide classes.

  7. USEF, AQHA, and 4-H rules apply.

  8. No stallions, foals, or horses with mean habits can be shown.

  9. Points for Championships are- 1st 5 points; 2nd 4 points; 3rd 3 points; 4th 2 points, and 5th 1 point.

  10. Each horse/rider combination may show in 1 (one) Division (either Pony, Intermediate, Western).

  11. Cross entering is permissible with timely tack changes.

  12. Premiums will be-1st - $6, 2nd - $5, 3rd - $4, 4th - $3, 5th - $2, and 6th - $1.

  13. Premiums on Showmanship Classes will be- 1st - $12, 2nd- $10, 3rd - $8, 4th - $6, 5th - $4, 6th -$2.

  14. Read General Rule #17, and #18, they fully apply in this department.

  15. HARD HATS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES PER STATE 4-H POLICY.

  16. Class order may be determined by entries.

  17. Short Stirrup – Exhibitors (ages 9-12 who are not eligible to show in any other classes with the exceptions of
    (a) Fitting and Showing, and (b) Pleasure Classes

  18. Small/Medium ponies are 13.2 hands and under. Large ponies are over 13.2 hands but not over 14.2 hands. Junior horses are over 14.2 hands.

  19. Intermediate Hunter Fence Height 2’6”- Horses Only.

  20. Driving class horses will be shown in an easy entry or a pleasure cart. Horses will be shown at the walk, collected trot and the working trot, going both directions of the ring.

  21. Miniature Jumping: Jumps will be set 20 feet apart. The entry with the fewest faults will be the winner. All jumps are set at 24”. Entries attempt to jump the course without any faults. Faults are awarded as follows:

    Knockdown - 4 faults
    Circling more than once - 3 faults
    Refusal - 3 faults
    3 refusals – elimination Fall off horse or handler-elimination.

  22. For the Reining Division, please see the 4-H State Horse Show rules located on their website. We will follow the 4-H rules and point system when pinning.

  23. Trail Class-open to everyone (may be running concurrent).

  24. High Score award points are counted on horse and rider combination.
