Tractor Driving Contest

  1. The contest will be conducted in accordance with guidelines from the Eastern National 4-H Engineering Event.

  2. Participants must be 4-H or FFA members and must have previous experience in operating the type equipment used in the contest.

  3. Safety will be stressed throughout the contest. Contestants who create a safety hazard may be requested to leave the contest area.

  4. Contestants must come to contest registration within one half-hour of the beginning of the contest in order to participate. Entries will be accepted on official entry form and by 2:30 pm on the day of the contest.

  5. Contest will be held for compact (garden) tractors and for full size farm tractors. The contest will consist of: a) Safety Test (20 minutes); b) Parts Identification (10 minutes); c) Driving Skills (8 minutes).

  6. Premiums will be awarded as follows: 1st - $10; 2nd - $8; 3rd -$6; 4th - $4; 5th $2; 6th - $1.

Stockmen's Contest

  1. 4-H and FFA members are eligible to participate.
     
  2. Ten minutes will be allowed for each class.
     
  3. While the contest is in session there will be no communication among contestants and anyone else, except as directed by the officials.
     
  4. Each contestant completing the contest with a score above 50% will receive $3.  Junior and Senior division winners will receive ribbons and prize money: 1st - $6; 2nd - $5; 3rd - $4.
     
  5. Entries will be accepted on official entry form and at contest time.

Classes
M-01 Written test with 25 questions concerning total livestock industry.
M-02 Identification of 10 pieces of livestock equipment.
M-03 Identification of 10 breeds of livestock (cattle, sheep, hogs, and horses).
M-04 Identification of 10 feeds.
M-05 Identification of 10 retail cuts of meat
M-06 Judging of cattle, hogs, sheep, and goats
M-07 Judging of meat cuts
M-08 Judging of hays
